Marilyn Manson: Astro-portrait of a narcissist/abuser (?)

In my life, I have had to deal with narcissistic abuse more than once, because like many in the psychology and spirituality fields have said, once you have been abused, you tend to keep attracting more abuse – exactly why this happens, I am not entirely sure, although I think Teal Swan was onto something when she said we keep attracting the same patterns of experience to learn all there is to learn about it. With each narcissist I have dealt with, I have become wiser and more confident in my abilities to overcome challenges, as well as gotten wiser on how to anticipate a narc’s moves/how to tackle them in general.

But no matter how many narcissists I have dealt with, overt, covert and all the shades  in between, every now and then I still get an inevitable shock when I realize some person I happened to like, whether a famous person, or someone I have met in my own life, gets exposed for being a narcissist.

In this case, my most recent shock came with Marilyn Manson, and him being called out by Evan Rachel Wood as a sadistic abuser . I know, some will say, how naïve of me. But I am pretty sure I am not the only one who was fooled into thinking that his dark stage persona was just that: a dark stage persona of a shock-rocker who built his popularity on calling himself “The Antichrist” and indulging in a whole slew of questionable behaviors from the beginning of his career to enforce that “evil rocker” image.

Many  voices that ensued after these accusations from Evan Rachel and several other of his former romantic partners, since, uttered a phrase that is all too commonly heard  when a covert narcissist is “unmasked” in public, namely “he hid in plain sight”.

When Evan Rachel Wood started talking about her horrific tales of abuse a few years ago, and the first voices suggesting Marilyn Manson was her abuser  first surfaced , I actually refused to think about it(because I have been a fan of his music for many years), and given her previous declarations from around the time they were together, I held on to the hope that maybe he was not the abuser. Even though the timeline matched with her relationship with Manson, I thought, maybe there was another mystery-man involved. But nope, as it turns out, as in any typical case of narcissistic abuse, she was still under “the influence” of Manson’s brainwashing when she publicly spoke highly of him and their relationship. Sigh..

Oh, well, since I love astrology, and I have a certain set of patterns I look for in the natal chart of an abuser ( like I also mentioned in a video I posted on youtube a while ago on serial killers - click here for that video, and a separate one I made on narcissists - click here for that video), I got to work eager to see what patterns I could find in Manson’s chart that would explain his propensity towards sadism  and evidence of a narcissistic personality.

But, to my surprise, I have found none of the major themes I normally see in the case of an abusive personality, particularly a narcissistic one.

On a deeper inspection though, subtle influences gather like pixels in a corner, creating a distinct color pattern of a rather devious individual.

Let me explain..

In most cases, the main things I look for is a badly afflicted Moon. Either debilitated, aspected by Rahu or Ketu, aspected by Mars or Saturn(in Vedic astrology, Mars aspects the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th placements from itself, Saturn aspects the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 10th placements from itself)

In pretty much all of the charts of serial killers and most narcissists I have checked, the Moon receives at least one or two aspects from Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu.

Then there is also a strong Mars/Saturn influence, a lot of planets in Rakshasa(demon) nakshatras perhaps, all of these pointing towards early life trauma generally, as well a propensity for power games and violence.

But in Manson’s chart, these are not really visible. Moon receives Rahu’s 5th aspect, but it sits in Cancer, in his 1st house, and is otherwise unaspected. Hardly a reason to suspect a violent temper.

Although Rahu/Ketu’s influences on the Moon, particularly Rahu’s can cause rapid mood swings, and I have seen it often in charts of people diagnosed with bipolar disorder for instance. Catherine Zeta has the Moon-Rahu conjunction, and she is a famous example of someone who battled bipolar disorder.

In any case, in Manson’s case, it is not a few hard aspects that clearly yell “red flag”, rather a host of subtle influences that all blend together in (im)perfect harmony.

For instance, like I mentioned in the video I posted on narcissism in astrology, he has a very strong Moon influence, Ascendant in Cancer, Moon in the 1st house already says this is someone with a strong talent for manipulation. Also, self-obssessed, since the Moon in vedic astrology is the mind, and the 1st house is the house of self-that can speak of potential narcissism in of itself.  Especially when coupled with other “subtle” influences.

And this is where Vedic astrology shows its magic..and reinforces the fact that, like they say, “the Devil is in the details”. Manson’s Moon is not just in Cancer, but it is in a nakshatra (lunar mansion) called “Ashlesha”, one of the so-called “demon” Nakshatras I was mentioning, and here is just an excerpt from a general description on Ashlesha Nakshatra I got from ganeshaspeaks.com :

The real-life anti-heroes who fit perfectly into any modern-day vigilante comics, the natives of Ashlesha Nakshatra are the true dark-knights. Being the true followers of Mercury, they possess the planet’s intelligence and curiosity, but also get a lot of gifts from their ruling deity, the Naga or the ‘Serpent King’. Just like the ‘Kaa’ from the Jungle Book, they are hypnotic. In no time, they will have you under their influence!

The constellation is made up of five stars and it is represented as the ‘clinging star’, another characteristic they have picked up from the serpent king.”

Funny, “The Serpent King” – he should have called himself that, in line with rocker Jim Morrison’s self-proclaimed “the Lizard King” title. Instead he went for “The Antichrist”, which follows into the general description of Ashlesha just the same (“anti-hero”).

The same website goes on to describe the male of this nakshatra by the following:

“The natives who are born in the Ashlesha Nakshatra will not be grateful to anybody, not even to their parents. He is deceptive and cunning. Outwardly, he shows that he is compassionate, but inwardly he does not care a bit. A positive trait of his is that he is a spellbinding orator, and posseses the ability to head many organisations. He can have a bright future in politics.”

Does it ring a bell yet? Manson’s own memoirs mention him being physically abusive towards his own mother, a trait that, like many others no doubt, was swept under the rug of “it’s just his shock rocker persona”.

Does this mean that anyone with Moon in Ashlesha will become a sadistic abuser? Of course not.

His chart, however, shows several more revealing pieces of the astrological puzzle that make-up a narcissist.

His Atmakaraka(in Vedic astrology, this is the planet with the highest degree in a chart, with the exceptions of Rahu or Ketu, and it is said to show the soul’s ultimate goal and desires in this life) is Saturn, which is so fitting, considering the fact that he even had a song titled “Saturnalia”, and it falls in Pisces, in Revati Nashatra, a placement that is often highly linked to substance abuse. And not only that, but it is conjunct Rahu, in the 9th house, the house of religion/higher ideals and beliefs.

Manson made a career out of playing on his “Antichrist” public persona, often being outspoken in criticizing the Christian faith, was blamed for the Columbine school shooting in the late 90s, which did not seem to phase him one bit, which is understandable for a narcissist, since it brought him more publicity from the controversies he sparked.

Furthermore, his Amatyakaraka(in vedic astrology, this is the planet with the second highest degree in the natal chart, and it is said to show the “vehicle” used by the native to reach the Atmakaraka’s “final destination”) is the Sun,which falls in Purva Ashadha,a naskhatra ruled by Venus. In other words, this easily illustrates that Manson’s “weapon of choice” in reaching his objectives in life is fame and creativity.

But does this also prove he is a narcissist? Not exactly. But wait, it gets a bit darker.

His Ketu(aka. “the south node of the Moon”, which is vedic astrology shows the sum of all your past lives’ experience) is conjunct Jupiter..and “drumroll” Pluto!, in the 3rd house, the house of efforts.

In other words, his “vehicle” or Amatyakaraka is in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, which Jupiter is conjunct Ketu and Pluto.

Normally Jupiter conjunct Ketu shows a person who has dedicated many past lives to higher knowledge and a strong relationship with the higher creative force called “God” by many cultures. But in this life, Ketu shows what we distance ourselves from. Or what we should distance ourselves from..and this is where both vedic and tropical astrology blend together into some priceless insights..Pluto is thrown into the mix. Pluto, the planet of power, is conjunct his Ketu and Jupiter, which to me says many past lives using Jupiterian qualities and fields, like religion, to attain power.

Or it could simply mean that his vehicle, in this lifetime (Sun in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter) to attain his goals(Saturn conjunct Rahu shows mass fame and a sense of power that stems from being humiliated and stripped of power in this life), will be to gain power (Pluto) by distancing himself(Ketu) from God (Jupiter).

And all of this would still not necessarily portray a narcissist or abuser. When it comes to issues like sadism, it is imperative to check Mars and Venus, the planets of sexuality and expression of love(or lack thereof). His Mars is in Libra, in Swati nakshatra, ruled by Venus and Rahu. Venus, in turn is in Satabhisha nakshatra, in Aquarius, ruled by  Saturn and Rahu.

Both of his relationship planets are subjected to the cold and harsh influence of Saturn, it is pretty common to see harsh aspects between Mars and Saturn or Mars and Pluto in the charts of narcissistic males.

In this case, the connection is not obvious at first sight, but it is quite clear at second glance: Rahu, the ruler of his Mars, is conjunct Saturn.

Rahu, the ruler of his Venus, in conjunct Saturn. Mars aspects his Venus by sign aspect, and his Venus is in his 8th house.

And perhaps the cherry on top is his Mars being debilitated. Again not uncommon to see in narcissistic males. Why? Because Mars is masculinity. A debilitated Mars, or a Mars under the control of Saturn or Pluto shows a massive insecurity surrounding a man’s masculinity/virility.

Often times, men with severely affected Mars placements go through situations of being abused by other males and made to feel emasculated.

And anyone who has read up on narcissism can tell you this: at their core, narcissists are extremely insecure, which is why they spend their entire lives seeking power dynamics in their relationships, especially ones in which they easily end up on top (aka being the abusers).

In conclusion, no one single aspect can say for sure what direction a person will take, but astrology always tells a story for those willing to read its language, and seek answers.

It is also no mistake that both Evan Rachel Wood and Esme Bianco, Manson's alleged victims, have Pluto placements which make hard aspects to his own planetary positions...but I will get into that in a video at some point.
